Several registries have incorporated CAC scoring into CVD risk prediction models to enhance accuracy. Hepatosteatosis (HS) has been shown be independent predictor events and can measured on non-contrast computed tomography (CT). We sought undertake contemporary, comprehensive assessment the influence HS alongside traditional factors. In patients with it may beneficial offer routine screening evaluate opportunities earlier primary prevention strategies. Methods performed retrospective, observational analysis at high-volume cardiac CT centre analysing consecutive coronary angiography (CTCA) studies. All referred investigation chest pain over 28-month period (June 2014 November 2016) were included. Patients established excluded. The findings reported by cardiologist retrospectively analysed two radiologists presence HS. Those zero those greater than compared demographic risks. A multivariate comparing factors was adjust binomial logistic regression model developed assess association between increasing strata CAC. Results total there 1499 CTCA without prior evidence CVD. completed in 1195 (79.7%) 1103 (92.3%). There 466 637 prevalence significantly higher versus (51.3% 39.9%, p = 0.007). Male sex (50.7% 36.1% p= <0.001), age (59.4 ± 13.7 48.1 13.6, <0.001) diabetes (12.4% 6.9%, 0.04) also group zero. associated (CAC 1-100 OR1.47, 0.01, 101-400 OR:1.68, 0.02, >400 OR 1.42, 0.14). This became non-significant highest score. Conclusion found significant age, male sex, more severe phenotype based multinomial model. Although reduced >400) this likely reflects overall low numbers within type II error. Based these appropriate stratification techniques all diagnosed

[A contemporary role of coronary artery calcium scoring in the assessment of the risk for coronary artery disease].
The growing prevalence of coronary artery disease, also in younger population, inspires constant development of coronary atherogenesis risk stratification and early diagnosis methods. The coronary artery calcium score is a simple parameter, requiring only a relatively small radiation dose to obtain in computed tomography. So far completed studies have provided consistent evidence in support of ...

Association between Helicobacter pylori Infection and Atherosclerotic Coronary Artery Disease
Background and Objectives: Cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of death in developed countries. In addition to traditional risk factors for cardiovascular disease, nowadays, accumulating evidence indicates that a variety of infections contribute to pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, (We investigated whether Helicobacter pylori infection is related to Prevalence of coronar...
متن کاملAssociation between rs2228014 Polymorphism of CXCR4 and Coronary Artery Atherosclerosis: A Case-Control Study
Introduction: Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory disease and is one of the leading causes of cardiovascular disease. Vascular plaques are formed on the inner surface of hardened arteries and gradually develop, reducing the diameter of the arteries. CXCR4 is one of the most important chemokine receptors, whose presence has been confirmed in cardiac plaques. Our aim was to determine the relations...
متن کاملLack of Association between the MEF2A Gene and Coronary Artery Disease in Iranian Families
Objective(s): Coronary artery disease (CAD) which may lead to myocardial infarction (MI) is a complex one. Great effort has been devoted to identification of genes that increase susceptibility to CAD or provide protection. A 21-bp deletion in the MEF2A gene, which encodes a member of the myocyte enhancer factor 2 family of transcription factors, has been reported in patients of a single pedigr...
